Henrik Shipstead papers, 1913-1953.

Correspondence, speeches, scrapbooks, clippings, news releases, printed items, and related materials concerning Shipstead's career as U.S. senator from Minnesota (1923-1947), first as a member of the Farmer-Labor party and then as a Republican. There are data on these political parties, his relationships with party leaders, and his political campaigns. The bulk of the papers, however, relate to rural electrification, inland waterways, U.S. involvement in world affairs, and other issues which concerned Shipstead's west-central Minnesota constituents.
